Rules & FAQ

Rank is your GitHub contribution count for the race window. That’s the whole game.

What counts

Whatever GitHub counts on your contribution graph: commits, pull requests, reviews and issues. If GitHub shows a green square, we count it.

The races

  • This week runs Monday 00:00 UTC to Sunday 23:59 UTC.
  • This month runs from the 1st to the last day of the month, UTC.
  • This year runs January 1 to December 31, UTC.

When a week or month ends, its board freezes and moves to Races. Equal counts are ordered by who joined first.

How often it updates

Active racers are refreshed every few minutes, everyone else at least hourly. Quiet accounts are checked daily.

Private contributions

If most of your work is in private repositories, turn on Settings → Profile → “Include private contributions on my profile” on GitHub. GitHub then shares how many private contributions you made, never what they were, and we pick them up on the next refresh.

Fair play

We import your history when you join, then keep recording new activity. Accounts that look automated or backdated may get a quiet “under review” marker or be hidden. It’s a joke leaderboard; please keep it funny.

Joining

You join by signing in with GitHub, so only you can put yourself on the board. Signing in asks GitHub for nothing beyond your public profile: we can’t see your code, private repos or email, and we don’t keep your GitHub token.

Teams

  • Any racer can start a team: public (anyone signed in can join) or invite-only (join with the owner’s link).
  • You’re on one team at a time, and a team holds up to 50 racers.
  • A team’s score is its members’ contributions in the race window. Each day counts for the team you were on that day (UTC), so switching teams doesn’t carry your week with you.
  • The owner can rename the team, reset the invite link, remove members, hand over ownership or delete it.

Comparisons

Anyone can put two GitHub accounts head to head at 1v1. Two racers get a live page. If someone in it isn’t racing, their side uses the same public numbers their GitHub profile shows, and the 1v1 is saved once, as it was at that moment, with the date. It never updates, so a shared link always shows what was shared. People who aren’t racing never appear on the boards. Want a saved 1v1 about you taken down? Message @yomo_dev on X.

What we store

For racers: your GitHub username, id, name, avatar, bio and location as GitHub shows them, and your daily contribution counts. Signing in sets one cookie that keeps you signed in. Visits are counted with Vercel Web Analytics, which uses no cookies. No email, no ad trackers, nothing sold. Saved 1v1s keep each side’s username, name, avatar and numbers. Leaving the race deletes your counts and every saved 1v1 with you in it.
